Are you suffering from Perioral Dermatitis?

Are you looking for a NATURAL way to remedy this unwelcome and debilitating condition?

I know how difficult it can be to deal with

First of all, Perioral dermatitis is a very common, often chronic skin disease that affects a large percentage of the population. It is very similar to Rosacea. It mostly affects the oral region around the mouth and sometimes will spread out onto the outer regions of the face. The hallmarks of the disease include redness, skin rashes, scaling and itching.  In Perioral dermatitis, the skin becomes extremely itchy and inflamed, causing redness, swelling, cracking, weeping, crusting, and scaling. This can be a very debilitating condition and it tends to pop- up out of nowhere.

Multiple factors can trigger or worsen atopic dermatitis, including dry skin, seasonal allergies, exposure to harsh soaps and detergents, new skin products or creams, and cold weather. The exact cause is often difficult to pin point.

Although symptoms of atopic dermatitis can be very difficult and uncomfortable, however, the condition can be successfully managed. Of course, if you are seeking a medical solution to this problem you may want to visit your doctor, but I have found a few natural solutions that have worked for me.

First, Perioral Dermatitis is often caused by an external source. It may be a reaction to a cream or perhaps a cleaner that had come into contact with your face.

Another common source is Demodex mites.  The two causes are treated differently. Do not be alarmed however as Demodex mites are naturally occurring on human skin and populate in our hair follicles. In the case of PD, their presence has just become exasperated.

Unless you know exactly what event kicked off your particular case of Perioral Dernatitis, it can be very difficult to determine what caused the condition. Many cases respond nicely to these remedies:

Apple Cider Vinegar

Pure ‘organic’ Apple cider vinegar also helps with Perioral dermatitis. This has to be pure and undiluted and preferably include “The Mother” (this would be marked on the label.) DO NOT use regular apple cider vinegar from your grocery. These contain other ingredients which will only aggravate your skin further. Apple cider vinegar will halt the progression of PD and in some cases cure it completely.

Virgin coconut oil

This can be purchase at any health food store. Coconut oil contains Lauric Acid and is a natural anti-viral, anti-bacterial agent.I’ve found that this has great moisturizing properties & helps to break down liver spots as well. Coconut oil is also very good for you if taken internally and also helps with weight loss.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil is another natural anti- bacterial remedy. This was what saved me from my own two month long case of PD. I had tried everything else & the tea tree oil is what finally saved me.  I think tea tree oil is the solution in the case of demodex. You do have to be careful though as tea tree oil can cause an allergic reaction.  So be sure to do a spot test before proceeding.  Tea tree oil is also a great acne remedy.

DermaDoctor “ Born To Be Mild “

This is a cream designed specifically for dermatitis and is the only non-natural product that I would recommend highly. “Born To Be Mild “contains zinc, which is also a dermatitis solution. I feel that this product played a big part in curing my own case of PD and I still use it a couple of times a week for maintenance. I definitely do not want to go through a bout of  PD ever again !
